BFF's

"Best Friends Forever" - I'm not sure how long this is going to last, but I am hoping that we are getting a glimpse at the friends they are going to to one another :)  Now don't misunderstand me, they fight with each other...lots, like wrestling, jumping, craziness - fighting.  But i really like when I capture the little moments when they are friends

"Check out the mess I made Matea"

"I'll share with you"

"I can keep a secret from Mom and Dad for sure!"

I love to take pictures.....

I really LOVE to take pictures - I actually really wish that I was one of those super cool baby photographers that can take pictures of babies in baskets, and hanging and just looking adorable - you know the ones :)  So for rightnow i am constantly practicing with my little people - I think they always look cute an adorable.  So with the beautiful sunshine today, the four of us got all packed up after school to play outside for a little while.  This ALWAYS require ALOT of snacks for Matea, just because she is in the stage where she wants to go splash around in the puddles with her big brother, but she would more than likely fall in the puddles, you know?  So sometimes we stroll around on the sidewalk, and sometimes she sits and has a little picnic.

So...like I said I love taking pictures, I really do - and I think these pictures of Matea are BEAUTIFUL.
Can you see the difference between the two pictures?

How did I miss the giant booger, when I was snapping the shots?!?
Sigh
it may be a few years before I am that
awesome baby photographer :)

I really like her eyes in these photo's adorable :)

Teddy Bear Pancakes, Reading & The Wiggles!

Okay so I am pretty sure that like 80% of my posts have to do with pancakes - sorry.  But these really were lots of fun :)

Big Mack coming downstair for some Teddy Bear pancakes

Checking the Teddy out
Chatting up the Teddy Bear
Delicious

He looks so grown up with he haircut short....I just love when he sits and "reads" his books, I
know he is smart already - even without gymnastics playschool :)

The Wiggles drive me bonkers!  But my little people love them right now.
They love them, and Big Mack LOVES all their songs.
The
Wiggles are THE WORST...and the best, but about 5 minutes before this
picture was taken it was absolute pandamonium at my house...1 year olds fighting with 3 year olds,
Daddy's trying to make supper, Mommy's bringing in groceries...
and then calm,
sigh,
The Wiggles

oops I forgot the "cuddles" part of the last post!

Haircut, snuggles, and snacks....not in that order :)

So....I know I have mentioned this before, but I realy do truly beleive that my children (the oldest in particular) is quite possibly the most strong willed child I have ever met!  Now when you are strong willed, and an adult - awesome - you know what you want, you know how you are going to get it,  and you don't let anyone sway you from getting where you need to be, am I right?  Now when you are 3, and strong willed....and it is time for a haircut...
okay let's be honest, we have all seen pictures of Big Mack, and I can admit it, we are about
4 weeks past "time for a haircut" he was starting to look like the "smelly kid"...

anyway-yep, time for a haircut, strong willed....this all equals sitting in the haircut chair, watching a video, everything going pretty good, way better than last time, when all of the sudden......OH MY GOODNESS, THEY ARE CUTTING MY HAIR?!?  I DON'T WANT MY HAIRCUT!  I HAVE TO ESCAPE, I HAVE TO ESCAPE, THIS FAKE CAR THAT THEY PUT ME IN TO WATCH THIS SHOW HAS MALFUNCTIONED SOMEHOW, I CAN'T GET OUT!  OH MY GOODNESS THERE IS HAIR EVERYWHERE!  IT'S IN MY MOUTH!  IT'S IN MY EYES!  WHY IS THIS CRAZY LADY BLOWING BUBBLES IN MY FACE?!?  ARGH!  GET ME OUT OF HERE!

Welcome to a Saturday morning with the Schurman Family :)  I tipped the hairdresser $20 because she managed to complete his haircut without slicing off one of his ears, which was a small miracle, especially if you know my son, and his "strong-willedness" and she suggested that maybe next time we make our appointment closer to the end of the bussiness day "so that he might not be so stimulated by all the surroundings" and in my head I am thinking "and so he maybe won't scare all the other little people who are coming in for their first haircuts?"
Either way Mackenzie did great in our books, he has really only had his haircut like 3 times in his life, and each time he does better and better, and he looks adorable!  I know you wanna see......

BEFORE

AFTER

I think he looks so adorable!

Okay now for snacks....we actually sat at the table last night for like an hour eating bedtime snacks.  My kids have a little snack before they go to bed because they are giants and they are ALWAYS hungry, tonight we had some cereal...usually they just eat it out of a bowl, like regular kids, but of course Daddy (he is the best Daddy because he is so creative) came up with a super fun way to eat it "DINOSAUR STYLE"

First you have to put all the cheerios on the dinosaur somewhere, hang them off a horn or a tail, or put them in the dinosaurs mouth

Then let the fun begin!

And this morning when we woke up, Matea sure did want to have her breakfast DINOSAUR STYLE
She had to settle for just being allowed to have her dino pal at the table, and she managed to use him as her utensil for one scoop of yogurt -

Friday....best day ever :)

Today could not have come soon enough :)  I have been subbing ALL week, which is pure craziness when you usually only work only one or two half days in a week - but I REALLY like the school I was at, the kids are really nice (for the most part) and I have a few "good buddies" there that I get to visit with at recess - so not really THAT difficult :)

I bought these cool Scrapbooking templates tonight.  They are 3-D number and letters....I was thinking it was sorta like AVATAR for scrapbooking (please don't email me and tell me I am lame, I know it, and I embrace it) we all have our hobbies, right?

So I used one for a page for Big Mack, you like?
I made it pretty quick, so it is not THAT super special....but he is :)
I just started thinking about all the cool stuff that Mackenzie does now that he is 3....

More helping Mom in the kitchen, more cleaning up, more talking, more peeing on the potty, wearing underwear.....and not peeing in them!  More listening - my Baby Mack is turning more and more into my big boy everyday.  Sniff, sniff.

Of course the little diva got a page too...once again, it was done VERY quickly, so hopefully you aren't expecting much :)

What do you think?

And since we compared Mackenzie one year ago today....here is Miss. Matea-this one really did bring a few tears to my eyes...I don't know why?

Okay before the big comparison, I remember this pisture like it was yesterday!  For some reason or another, last February, our little Miss. Matea would work herself into quite the tizzy between the hours of 8-11, nope not just for a few minutes, for a full TWO HOURS!?!  I remember Bob and I would take turns walking around with her, facing her outwards, and making sure she had a soother or something so she wouldn't be too upset.  Sometimes it worked, and sometimes she would just be upset - Baby girl....

I am going to go to bed now and miss my babies (sniff, sniff) but be glad that I don't have to get up in the middle of the night, and my big boy will wake up and go pee in the potty :)

Birthday suit Tuesday.....

I know it sounds crazy.....not to worry, this post will be short and sweet.  Miss. Matea is going through this stage where she HATES getting her diaper changed, I actually feel like I am wrestling with her, and this is when we are AT HOME!  Can you imagine when we are cramped in a tiny little batroom stall?!?  ARGH!  I don't like this stage, not one bit.....so the I decided to just let her have a little naked time after I changed her diaper, instead of fighting with her - she loved it.  So just like Pancake Sunday.....we now have naked Tuesday....sigh.....I can't wait for those nominations for Mother of The Year to start POURING in!

Matea

My kids are weird, right?

Valentine's Day with a 1 year old and a 3 year old...

.....well of course it was a candle light dinner for Bob-a-licious and I, we dressed up, went to a fancy resteraunt, and there was flowers and chocolate....

Yeah Right!

Let's just jump back to my reality
for a second...it was Pancake Sunday!
Who's got time for "dress up clothes" on Pancake Sunday?!?
It was a great day, there was chocolate, supper at
Nana & Bampi's - which was a treat because someone
else wrestle's Big Mack to the bathroom when he is
being a little rascal - thank you Bampi :)  And there may
still be flowers yet, if Bob knows what is good for him :)

Heart shaped pancakes for Valentine's Day - I know, I know
they are a little burnt...

but that didn't seem to bother my little guy

Delicious

Matea even tried a few...

I'm not gonna lie, she didn't LOVE them like her big bro.
Although with all that hair, it is amazing she can even
eat her breakfast!

She looks crazy in this picture...must be a REALLY good apple :)

VALENTINE'S DAY PRESENTS!

Mackenzie trying to lick his nose or something - boys are gross.

Now if you follow the next few pictures it is pretty much exactly what
happens when Mackenzie meets someone new at school or when
we are "out and about".

New friend trying to get Mack's attention...
he is distracted by being gross - in a cute way
(don't email me and tell me I am a rotten mother)

Mackenzie still distracted, this time by SMARTIES, while his new
friend STILL tries to get his attention!

"Oh Hi...I didn't see you there!"
"Want to be best friends forever?"

"Let's smooch on it"

Please see previous post regarding Mackenzie's aggressive hugging
and smooching technique, and why his cousin Alex
avoids him sometimes.

Uncle Jer came for a visit because he hadn't seen the
M&M's for a week, and he missed them...awww.

I know what you are thinking....what is going on with Matea's hair?!?

Look how much she loves her Uncle Jer, and look how hard he is
concentrating on Matea's book - hmmm
He probably just wanted to borrow it for the class he teaches.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day too!

Valentine's Day tomorrow!

Normally I send out little cards to all our friends....oops :)
Hope you enjoy :)

How cute are they?!?

Best Day EVER!

So today we went to "Telus World of Science" - for all you old ladies and gentlemen out there it used to be called the Space & science center -- it was cool when I was little and it is still cool now.  Lots of fun times with the M&M's and their cousins!  And on a side note...it was the first "long trip" Big Mack made in his big boy "unders" - with no accidents!  My son is exceptional...it's no big deal :)

Yikes!  Monster!  Nope just me in the a.m on a Saturday...getting
ready to go to see THE COUSINS!

We were finally able to get on the road, just in time for us to arrive as the
cousins were headed into the IMAX theatre to watch a DINOSAUR movie
(too scary for us..AND we are perpetually late!), but the reason we were l
ate, you ask?  Well we were cruising down the highway
watching "The Wiggles" - ugh - when I looked at Bob and we were like
"where the heck is this place?!?", so basically we loaded up our
children ready for a Schurman Family Day O' Fun...with
no concrete idea as to where we actually needed to be!
It is frightening to think that we are responsiple for these little people.
A few phone calls were made, a few missed exits, Bob and I
almost got divorced (just kidding)....and then we arrived at.....

TELUS WORLD OF SCIENCE!

Miss. Matea all "cleaned up" and playing
with some super big Lego

Alex, Matea, and Aunt Jen building a wall - I think Aunt Jen
liked it the best because she was actually on the
floor before Matea was!

Cousin Alex & Mack...they are 9 months apart.
Sometimes they like each other....and sometimes they
avoid each other....like for the entire first 2 years of their lives!
I think Alex is a little unsure of
Big Mack sometimes... he is an aggressive hugger.... and smoocher.

Matea and MORE lego

Matea and her cousin Corbyn (he LOVES her) and yes she is
putting that "swine flu" infested LEGO in her mouth-ew.

Water Table Fun Times!
Now this area smelled very "bleachy", so I was thinking
"Woo-hoo, they must have just cleaned in here..."
So when Matea was putting her little hands in the water, and then
putting them in her mouth, I discouraged her (of course)
but didn't have a heart attack....until my sister
informed me that the bleach was in the water, and I should
probably stop my daughter from injesting it!  Mother of the YEAR!

Big Mack rocking the water table

That kid was HILARIOUS!  He was
splashing and throwing the boats
around like a .....kid. It was so nice for Mackenzie
to find a partner in crime kindred spirit.

That looks really high...no injuries though (another reason why
it was THE BEST DAY EVER)

Fun stuff for the Dad's--hey where are the little people?!?
Bob and Darcy

Giant magnifying glass

He didn't get it...he was too close to look giant!

Sleepy Matea...for like 5 minutes :)

Happy kiddies on the way home....okay that is a lie.  Big mack was good
Miss. Matea wanted to cry the whole time unless her
brother was holding her hand!  Poor guy!  He entertained her for like the
last 20km of the trip - what a good brother!

And..... what post wouldn't be complete without
a "quote-y" picture for my sister
she is so sappy and into that type of
thing -weird.
I am being sarcastic, of course :)
