M & M Memories

My sweet babies....
I know everyone can "see" it, but if you know them...you know they truly have grown up so much in the last year...so much.
My Big Boy
Last year he still wore his little diaper, and rarely spoke more than a few words (he had lots of them, just not much to say), but the energy...never ending amounts of energy.  He only drank water, and could not stand the taste of juice or milk - C-R-A-Z-Y.
Now...he is practically an old man!  He talk all the time, but only to people that he trusts and knows.  He is very kind, and so sensitive.  He has amazing eye-hand coordination (thank you video games-sheesh) and managed to master "touch" technology in about an hour - let's just say I no longer have an ipod, Mack and I have an ipod, and  Bob-a-licious is almost as good at "angry birds" as Mack is.  He had developed a tstes for juice, and milkshakes, and likes to sing songs - his latest is singing - "excuse me I tooted" or "excuse me I burped" - it's cute, but it almost makes me feel like he is making fun of me for making him have manners (I think I am reading too much into it)  The most amazing development (for me anyway) is that he travels to an imaginary world EVERY DAY!  This world is full of make beleive presents for me, and stories about climbing mountains, and jumping over cows, and dinosaurs...never ending dinosaur dialouge/games/stories...
Dino parades....
 dino sleeping games...
this was one of my favourites...I'm not going to lie, it didn't last long enough
but it was detailed...oh my it was detailed!
He looks so grown up in this picture!
He is so kind.
So perseptive...it's almost like he can tell in a room full of people who loves him unconditionally, and who doesn't care for children - you might not get talked to if you are the latter.  Perceptive.
Oh and I almost forgot!  Proud.  I can tell just by the look on his face when he is proud of himself.
For example, while I am sitting her writing this post, he is baking me imaginary cakes (they are delicious by the way) brown ones, purple ones, really big ones that take him like 2 whole minutes to carry across the room...you get the picture.  And each time I swallow each one in 2-3 bites, say thank you, and tell him how delicious it is...he is proud of himself.
And then he sings me a "your welcome" song (yep, he is definitly making fun of me)
He is proud in this picture posing with his dino's.
One thing has stayed the same....energy...it's endless.
Sweet Baby Mack
My little baby girl
Miss. Matea has not been around as much as Big Mack, so her section might be a little bit shorter
(plus there are imaginary cakes that are piling up and need to be eaten)
This is our chubby monkey about a year ago....
One big difference between Matea Riley Anne 2009 and Matea Riley Anne 2010...she is still adorable, but somewhere along the way she figured out just how cute she actually is...snd she is ROCKING IT!  She is a definitly a DIVA, and loving every minute of it.
She is also FULL OF ENERGY like her brother (I am starting to think all the diet coke I drank while I was pregnant had a lasting effect on their development - don't email me and tell me it did, I'm just kidding I have energetic kids!) last year she was still doing the "butt scoot" around the house, perfectly happy to have everyone get her whatever she needed.
Her nose is also ORANGE in these pictures, this is due largely to the fact that she LOVED sweet potato & carrot baby food...loved it-this has also changed-thank goodness, I was getting tired of trying to photoshop it out!
Now she is ALL over the place, and spends most of her day doing  figure eights around the kitchen table and the ottoman in the living room...I'm not even joking a little bit.  She is loud, all the time loud.  And she wants you to guess what she wants and when you don't guess right, she...yells.
Let's just say Matea has embraced "the 2's"--big time.  With "the 2's" comes the ability to cry whenever your dessert isn't brough to you fast enough...prepare to be amazed by the photographic evidence
And.....I'm fine
She is sweet, and is starting to play little games with her Potato Heads..it's ridiculously adorable.
She is a sponge.  Whenever I come home from work I always chase them down and hug them and tell them that I missed them...now when I go to the washroom, when I come back she says  yells "Mommy I missed you so much!".  She sings head and shoulders, and is very energetic with the actions (she almost poked MY eye out at the swimming pool the other day)
She is curious and loveable.  She gives the best hugs...but they are few and far between, she is definitly not one of "those kids" who hug everyone.  If you made a comment about her temper tantrum...you probably won't be getting a hug.  But if she loves you, you know it - she still open mouth smooches sometimes-how can you not tell when THAT is happening :)
Now this isn't very "deep" but one thing that has changed between Matea and I is the never ending fight that is her "hair-do"--she hates having her hair brushed, with a passion.
The steps of a "Matea-do"
Step 1: Oh for God sake, what am I supposed to do with this?!?
Step 2: make sure there is a tasty breakfast, and RAKE a brush through the mop of hair I never thought would grow.
Step 3: ARGH!  When in doubt ADD WATER or sometimes even DETANGLER :)
Step 4: Oops! that was supposed to be a ponytail in the middle of your head....I guess it's a side-ish ponytail now!
Step 5: This is "blog worthy" so we are going to "fancy-up" this hair-do with a little braid action
Truth time....what you have just viewed is literally an the extent of my hair-doing abilities
I know, she's only two...I'm worried too.
Oh and this worries me too......but it's still cute :)
Sweet Baby Matea
I am always amazed at the feedback that I get from people emailing me, and leaving comments on this blog - thanks so much for loving our little M & M's....
I am not going to lie, they are definitly not your, regular, run of the mill robotic kids-they are creative, and loud, kind, and out of control (sometimes), fun, dare-devil-ish little ones....
and if you don't like them, or maybe you find them annoying, or not quite obidient enough....your loss...they are really awesome.
