Valentine's Day with a 1 year old and a 3 year old...

.....well of course it was a candle light dinner for Bob-a-licious and I, we dressed up, went to a fancy resteraunt, and there was flowers and chocolate....

Yeah Right!

Let's just jump back to my reality
for a second...it was Pancake Sunday!
Who's got time for "dress up clothes" on Pancake Sunday?!?
It was a great day, there was chocolate, supper at
Nana & Bampi's - which was a treat because someone
else wrestle's Big Mack to the bathroom when he is
being a little rascal - thank you Bampi :)  And there may
still be flowers yet, if Bob knows what is good for him :)

Heart shaped pancakes for Valentine's Day - I know, I know
they are a little burnt...

but that didn't seem to bother my little guy

Delicious

Matea even tried a few...

I'm not gonna lie, she didn't LOVE them like her big bro.
Although with all that hair, it is amazing she can even
eat her breakfast!

She looks crazy in this picture...must be a REALLY good apple :)

VALENTINE'S DAY PRESENTS!

Mackenzie trying to lick his nose or something - boys are gross.

Now if you follow the next few pictures it is pretty much exactly what
happens when Mackenzie meets someone new at school or when
we are "out and about".

New friend trying to get Mack's attention...
he is distracted by being gross - in a cute way
(don't email me and tell me I am a rotten mother)

Mackenzie still distracted, this time by SMARTIES, while his new
friend STILL tries to get his attention!

"Oh Hi...I didn't see you there!"
"Want to be best friends forever?"

"Let's smooch on it"

Please see previous post regarding Mackenzie's aggressive hugging
and smooching technique, and why his cousin Alex
avoids him sometimes.

Uncle Jer came for a visit because he hadn't seen the
M&M's for a week, and he missed them...awww.

I know what you are thinking....what is going on with Matea's hair?!?

Look how much she loves her Uncle Jer, and look how hard he is
concentrating on Matea's book - hmmm
He probably just wanted to borrow it for the class he teaches.

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day too!

Valentine's Day tomorrow!

Normally I send out little cards to all our friends....oops :)
Hope you enjoy :)

How cute are they?!?

Best Day EVER!

So today we went to "Telus World of Science" - for all you old ladies and gentlemen out there it used to be called the Space & science center -- it was cool when I was little and it is still cool now.  Lots of fun times with the M&M's and their cousins!  And on a side note...it was the first "long trip" Big Mack made in his big boy "unders" - with no accidents!  My son is exceptional...it's no big deal :)

Yikes!  Monster!  Nope just me in the a.m on a Saturday...getting
ready to go to see THE COUSINS!

We were finally able to get on the road, just in time for us to arrive as the
cousins were headed into the IMAX theatre to watch a DINOSAUR movie
(too scary for us..AND we are perpetually late!), but the reason we were l
ate, you ask?  Well we were cruising down the highway
watching "The Wiggles" - ugh - when I looked at Bob and we were like
"where the heck is this place?!?", so basically we loaded up our
children ready for a Schurman Family Day O' Fun...with
no concrete idea as to where we actually needed to be!
It is frightening to think that we are responsiple for these little people.
A few phone calls were made, a few missed exits, Bob and I
almost got divorced (just kidding)....and then we arrived at.....

TELUS WORLD OF SCIENCE!

Miss. Matea all "cleaned up" and playing
with some super big Lego

Alex, Matea, and Aunt Jen building a wall - I think Aunt Jen
liked it the best because she was actually on the
floor before Matea was!

Cousin Alex & Mack...they are 9 months apart.
Sometimes they like each other....and sometimes they
avoid each other....like for the entire first 2 years of their lives!
I think Alex is a little unsure of
Big Mack sometimes... he is an aggressive hugger.... and smoocher.

Matea and MORE lego

Matea and her cousin Corbyn (he LOVES her) and yes she is
putting that "swine flu" infested LEGO in her mouth-ew.

Water Table Fun Times!
Now this area smelled very "bleachy", so I was thinking
"Woo-hoo, they must have just cleaned in here..."
So when Matea was putting her little hands in the water, and then
putting them in her mouth, I discouraged her (of course)
but didn't have a heart attack....until my sister
informed me that the bleach was in the water, and I should
probably stop my daughter from injesting it!  Mother of the YEAR!

Big Mack rocking the water table

That kid was HILARIOUS!  He was
splashing and throwing the boats
around like a .....kid. It was so nice for Mackenzie
to find a partner in crime kindred spirit.

That looks really high...no injuries though (another reason why
it was THE BEST DAY EVER)

Fun stuff for the Dad's--hey where are the little people?!?
Bob and Darcy

Giant magnifying glass

He didn't get it...he was too close to look giant!

Sleepy Matea...for like 5 minutes :)

Happy kiddies on the way home....okay that is a lie.  Big mack was good
Miss. Matea wanted to cry the whole time unless her
brother was holding her hand!  Poor guy!  He entertained her for like the
last 20km of the trip - what a good brother!

And..... what post wouldn't be complete without
a "quote-y" picture for my sister
she is so sappy and into that type of
thing -weird.
I am being sarcastic, of course :)

Reasons why I loved today....

  1. It was pancake Sunday - even though I almost slept through it!
  2. No one woke me up in the middle of the night because they had to "go pee"
  3. Bob was home ALL DAY TODAY! - sorry for yelling, but it is pretty exciting
  4. I stayed in my PJ's until 4pm!
  5. Someone else cooked me supper - thanks Mom and Dad
  6. Grey's Anatomy - I will explain :)
I know you are worried, but don't be, I woke up just in time for pancake Sunday :)  Big Mack and his Daddy had mixed up a delicious batch (undocumented by photography-oh well, I guess not EVERY second HAS to be documented) and then I stumbled downstairs to cook em' up :)  Big Mack ate 3, which means I am quite confident that I am going to have to double by batch before he turns four years old.  Yikes.

Now the "Grey's Anatomy" explanation.  I never have time on a Thursday night to watch TV, and Bob-a-licious does not really share my love for Seattle Grace/Mercy West Hospital and ALL the drama that lays inside!  My PVR is a great friend.  She never lets me down, she doesn't make me sit through boring commercials and she definitly doesn't judge me for recording "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" or "Teen Mom" - get a PVR, just get one.

Even my little people LOVE it
Matea & Mack LOVING an episode of "Grey's"

"Ha ha...Meridith is a funny name"

"Yikes...poor doctor's noting ever goes their way"

*I know they need haircuts*

Oh and the biggest reasons why I loved today are sitting on that brown couch snuggled under that blanket, just in case it isn't obvious :)

Oh and there is no way they were watching "Grey's" they were probably
watching Dora or Diego or some weird Gabba, Gabba show

Pictures I love

I got a super cool camera as a present from Bob-a-licious last year, and I am constantly trying to take better pictures - but sometime I have to concentrate really hard, and think too much, and then I just end up photoshopping them anyway......but I really love these ones :)

This is my new favorite, she looks so "deep" in thought - now if you know
Matea or any other 1 year old, you will know that really isn't the case.  In fact I am pretty
sure this is like 2 seconds before she lost her mind and threw herself
on the floor - but I like to pretend that she is contemplating world peace
or something along that lines

Tough Week :)

It has been a tough week at the Schurman house this week.  As you all know...IT'S WINTER!  Sorry to yell at everyone like that, but I am ready for the sun, and walks, wagon rides, and picnics - boo winter.  Winter kept Bob at work for a LONG time this week.  Like 12 hours a day!  I know there are lots of people out there who might be reading this and thinking "Boo-hoo, cry me a river" - please don't email me this to tell me that you are crying me a river, okay?  I like LOVE (sorry about the yellling) having may hubby around.  I like the help at dinnertime, I like when he takes Big Mack out to climb snowy mountain, I married him, I like having him around, okay?  So it was a long week for myself and the little people, although I did enjoy seeing their little faces light up when their Daddy walked in the door - the second day of Bob's 12 hour shifts I thought Matea was going to give herself a concussion in her high chair she got so enthusiastic!  I definitly have a new appreciation for my husband, and the time he spends with us, and those mommies that do it by themselves everyday, and still managa to comb their hair, and not serve Kraft dinner and hotdogs 7/10 meals - amazing, truly amazing.

So in addition to Bob being MIA for a few days, I also turned 31 - ugh.  That is enough said right there.  When I turned 30 - no big deal, I was like "woot, woo...30 over here!"  but this time - yikes.  I got sick around my birthday, everyone's sleeping schedule was messed up, I think it just made me feel old.  The upside to having a birthday - a birthday party with sweet, sweet Mackenzie James singing the birthday song (I actually got 3 birthday songs thanks to The Tomson family - although Tracy is so loud I only heard Ian for like 5 seconds - love you friend - and Miss. Ayva from next door-so adorable) and some super delicious homemade birthday cake that reminds me of my childhood....even if I am old it made me feel young - thanks Mom!

Some birthday party pictures for your enjoyment

Birthday smooches from my little man
(I like to get all "dolled up" for my birthday -
insert sarcastic voice when reading previous statement)

"Whoa Tiger - back up" - it felt to me like Big Mack was trying
to "lick" the candles out

A very proud Mackenzie james for singing a wonderful
birthday song AND blowing out all the candles.

And of course no meal would be complete
without a cheer from Miss Matea....and both her chins
(I mean this in a cute way, don't email me and tell me I
am a horrible mother, I know I'm not)

Now for this next portion of the post i would like to subtittle it:

WOULD YOU LIKE US TO COME TO YOUR NEXT BIRTHDAY PARTY?

"Lick the icing?  Sure, why not?"

"You are so adorable, let me get the plate even closer to your cute little mouth"

"Daddy's turn"

And I wonder why I already know I am going to get a call on his first day of Kindergarten...

January comes to an end....

So to commemorate we must….make a scrapbook page! If you are my friend on FB, then you will have probably seen these already – sorry.

I am totally making it seem like I do this for my kids every month (don't get me wrong that is the GOAL) but the last monthly one I made was in July - worst Mommy ever.
