Grade One Field Trip!!!!

Staying at home has allowed me the privilege of being involved in the M & M's day to day happenings at school.  I get to drop off and pick them up (with a little help from Nana and Bampi because they go to different schools at the moment) I get to volunteer in the classroom, go to assemblies......AND go on field trips!!!!
Not going to lie, sitting 3 to a seat with 90 grade one students on 1 gigantic cheese wagon - fun.  Super loud, smelly, and a little bit fun.
These were my seat buddies, pretty cute, right?  They were excited.
SO off we went to Markerville!!!

First stop was The Creamery
super cute puppet show - Mack's favorite part was when they said "To the Bat mobile" - which literally had NOTHING to do with the presentation :)
Getting ready to practice a little cow milking :)
Mack worked hard...but cow milkers we are not!
Mack's team getting a little tired waiting for everyone to take their turn.
 Next stop: Making butter
It was painful BUT they did eventually make a little butter, and shared it on crackers
Guess who didn't want ANY?
After super fun butter making.....ice cream cones (at 10am)!

Then into the museum

and then a trip to The Stephansson House
Getting lined up!
a little bit of a walk, one of the poor mama's was on CRUTCHES!

They made cookies in a wood burning stove...
 EVERYONE got to help stir!
They learned about making wool...or something...I think.
The best part about our trip to Stephansson house was Mackenzie, naturally.  The students running the house made sure to explain to the students that EVERYTHING in the house was authentic, from 1889.  To which my son promptly plopped down on a super old bed that they were asked NOT to sit on, and grabbed a stapler from a small desk area where pamphlets are given to the public and asked....
"Hey Ladies?  Is this stapler from 1889?"
Little (smart) stinker.
Then we were off to an "old fashioned" school house.
Part of the "fun" was that they were treated as old fashioned students would have been treated, and expected to behave the same.  The actor playing the role of the teacher was QUITE strict, and QUITE convincing - she even scolded THIS mama!

Mackenzie was not super pumped about this particular activity, at one point her just refused to participate (politely - he said "no thank you" when the teacher asked him to do something, she didn't know what to do)
When I asked him about it later, and why he didn't do the activity....he said
"She wasn't being very kind, I didn't really like the way she was treating me or my friends..."
Sigh....sometimes he blows me away :)

And then we were finally on our way home!!!
The had a five minute power nap and then they were back to their goofy selves :)
