*Baby Day*
Because you were a planned c-section (just like the M & M's) we knew what day to expect you - barring any major catastrophe's in and around Red Deer.
We woke up at the crack of dawn and I yelled at your Dad because I read the alarm wrong, and thought that he had turned it off in the middle of the night and now we wouldn't be able to have you - did I mention that pregnancy hormones were at an all time high - because I also got mad at him for taking a super long way to the hospital when we were already late (mind you we were late because of me).  We got there, and the surgical nurse was waiting to "check us in", which basically means they ask you a ridiculous amount of questions, and most of them are about what amount of drugs and alcohol you abused during your pregnancy....weird, although the nurses assured me that I was an anomaly having not abused any drugs or alcohol...weird.
We got to do all the "super fun" pre-op stuff (when I say super fun I mean gross, gross, gross - google it, it is actually the opposite of fun) and then we went down to wait for our turn in the operating room.
While we were there a doctor came to tell us, in person, all the horrible things that could go wrong - he called it "informed consent".  With the M & M's they just gave us a pamphlet, with you...it was like a five minute checklist, and your Dad kept looking more and more worried.
Now once we get into the operating room, everything is going as planned.  You were born, you were adorable, you promptly peed ALL over the surgeon (which I secretly thought was hilarious) and then.......your Dad passed out on top of me.
Not even a little bit of a joke!  Bob, who when Big Mack was born actually spent more time on "the other side" of the curtain bonding with the surgeon while taking a peek at my gallbladder and intestines (ew!), was looking a little pale.  He made the mistake of saying "I kinda feel like I am going to faint".... so they got him a chair, and told him to put his head between his legs - no one was too worried, pretty standard for them.....until he went to put his head between his legs and his whole body went limp on my arm and shoulder...so they medical staff were all busy doing their thing, and I had to say...."Um, sorry to bug you guys, but I'm pretty sure he just passed out...can someone help me?"  Well I have never seen so many people move so fast - there was a wheelchair, and Bob got an IV, they took his vitals and then had to give him something because his blood pressure was too low, and then he had to go to the Emergency Room!  Craziness.  So Asher went to the special care nursery, Bob went to the ER, and I went to recovery.
I thought he might be back waiting for me in the room when I got out of recovery, but no such luck,
It was just the two of us!

they kept him in the ER doing lots and lots of tests, and he didn't make it back for a few hours!
Everything was fine and he was given a clean bill of health....I am certain he fainted because he was hungry, and I wasn't allowed to eat after midnight the day before so he was trying not to eat in front of me...and if you know Bob, you know he eats like a horse, he NEEDS to eat like a horse!
At the time it was a wee bit stressful, but now it is just kind of funny.
Even the nurses that were in the operating room came to find us over the two days we were there to make sure he was ok....and to make fun of him a little bit :)
But most importantly YOU arrived!
Safe and sound...and super cute
Looking very similar to the M & M's the older you got
Mack & Asher (3 days new)
Matea & Asher
(3 weeks new)
And things got a little more busy....
And the parents got a little less sleep

But the lack of sleep doesn't last forever...I am already starting to see the light at the end of that tunnel :)
 And you are soooo loved...
Big Mack was BORN to be your big brother!
And Miss. Matea will come around too.....she always does :)
